drawing rooms open fire

the interconnecting drawing rooms are a delight, equipped with newspapers and refreshments. the spacious bar downstairs features a lovely open fire. i enjoyed the beautiful food during lunch and breakfast..

the room wasn't ready at the stated check-in time. i had to wait one hour to get into my room. this wasn't a great start

The location is excellent. It is a short walk from marble arch tube. there are many buses along baker street and oxford street. the hotel benefits from gardens and is close to the west end.

the restaurant is first class, with views over portman square. there are various seating options that are well spaced. i had lunch choosing the fixed menu with paired wines. the onsite food options were great.

a fine stay, yet imperfect

helpful staff convenient location unchanged music missing cup

i am so grateful for the staff at the front desk. they were very helpful. the location was very convenient, it was near shops.

the music in the drawing room remained unchanged. it was not ideal for talking quietly. i also had problem to get tea making facilities, it lacks cup and spoon.

mixed feelings about the stay

inattentive staff hazardous access

the staff was not very attentive (maybe they thought i was just visiting). i asked for tea-making facilities in the room and only got a kettle, without tea, cups, milk, or even a spoon. also, finding my room seemed like a treasure hunt involving stairs, a courtyard, and more stairs. it felt quite hazardous, especially because there was no warning about a big step down and a cracked floor.

the drawing rooms on the first floor are good. they offer newspapers and refreshments. i could leave my bags at reception and enjoy the drawing room while waiting for my room..

the breakfast wasn't great. the restaurant overlooks the square. it took a large deposit which didn't release until 31 days after. i had much discussion with the management..

disruptive traffic poor sleep

The staff didn't seem to prioritize guest needs. getting assistance was a hassle. i found the noise from nearby traffic disruptive. This affected my sleep quality.
