I appreciated the friendly attitude of the staff at breakfast. The design and feel of the bar area were also quite attractive to me.

The hotel did not respond to my attempts to book a parking space. This was very disappointing. I also found that when dinner was included in the price from a set menu, I was charged extra at checkout.

The room was clean and modern. The location proved very convenient for the nearby rugby stadium. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. Staff members were cute and friendly, a plus.

I found there was very little parking available at the hotel.

A romantic getaway

I've stayed before, back when it was still the Brooklyn hotel, and it was always wonderfully romantic. I am VERY happy that the high standards remain since voco took over. Nothing feels lost. The staff continue to be helpful, especially with my little labrador. Her fussing makes everyone feel welcome. The location is also a standout, near Nelson Mandela Park for morning runs.

It only mentions on-site parking as an asset three times, but DOESN'T flag that parking is limited, costs £20, and MUST be pre-booked, frustrating.

The reception staff was polite. They were helpful, particularly with directions to nearby attractions. One gentleman went into detail about the types of drinks available at the bar. He made two lovely drinks.

The gym has modern equipment including several treadmills. The hotel also has a well kept business center. There is good wifi throughout the premises. It allowed me to video call my family easily.

Breakfast included fresh hot vegetarian options. I tried eggs and different sausages. Fresh fruit juices were offered, and hot drinks were available. The food was FRESH, wholesome, and tasty!!!

The room's design was really well thought out, with dimmable lights perfect for a cosy atmosphere. USB charging sockets, a retro phone, and a radio add character. Apotheke White Vitever fragrance toiletries are a luxurious touch.

I found the lack of parking frustrating. The hotel has very limited spaces. This meant I had to find alternative parking some distance away. The room also had issues. The shower temperature was inconsistent, fluctuating from hot to cold unexpectedly.

mixed feelings about parking and bathroom

I found a couple of issues . firstly, the shower design wasn't great. I ended up with a burst of cold water after a hot shower, which wasn't pleasant (it really startled me!). secondly, parking was a real headache. the hotel only has parking for about 20 cars, i think, and it costs £20 per night. it's also necessary to book it ahead of time. this made it hard to park. there was a hospital car park nearby, but it required crossing a busy road without pedestrian crossings.
