The Witchery By The Castle, located in Old Town, offers nine unique suites. Each suite features individual decor. Some suites offer views of the Royal Mile. Certain suites include a kitchenette and lounge. Four-poster beds are available in select suites. The Gothic library-styled suite, situated on the first floor, includes a book-filled bathroom with a hidden secret door, views of the Royal Mile, walls upholstered in Paisley fabrics, and a seating area with Victorian sofas from Taymouth Castle. The spacious suite on the first floor features a lacquered red bathroom with an antique Victorian bath, a tartan-lined study, and a four-poster bed. Situated on the second floor, one suite overlooks the Royal Mile and includes a draped bed, French gilded furniture, ecclesiastical vestments, and a marble-floored bathroom with a roll-top bath and shower. An elegant suite features a four-poster bed with vintage red silk velvet drapes and views to Princes Street. Another suite includes a four-poster bed with gold-embroidered velvets, a sitting room, a walk-in dressing room, and a hidden Gothic chapel bathroom. A suite offers views across Old Town rooftops, a separate sitting room, a dining hall, and an oak-panelled bathroom with roll-top bath. Amenities in each suite include ironing facilities, heating, tea and coffee facilities, a sitting area, a terrace, a dressing area, free toiletries, an electric kettle, and a flat-screen TV with a carpeted floor.
Dining Excellence
The Witchery By The Castle offers several unique dining experiences. Guests can choose from the 16th-century oak-panelled and candlelit Original Dining Room or the Secret Garden dining room with its hand-painted ceiling and secluded terrace for dining or cocktails. The Original Dining Room features opulent surroundings with rich baroque decor. Culinary classics such as Tournedos Rossini, Omelette Arnold Bennet, and Lobster Thermidor are served, where each bite is meant to transport you to a bygone era. The a la carte restaurant menu is available all day. A two-course lunch is priced at £34.50. The Secret Garden is illuminated by candlelight and steeped in history. The restaurant showcases Scottish produce from foragers, farmers, fishermen, growers, cheese makers, smokers, butchers and gamekeepers. Sample dishes include Shellfish Bisque with rouille, Gruyère & croutons and North Atlantic Cod with mussel parsley velouté & Baerii caviar. The rooftop of the venue offers views and an evening menu.
Afternoon Tea
The Witchery offers an Afternoon Tea experience, priced at £50 per person. The Witchery Champagne Afternoon Tea is £65, including a glass of Billecart-Salmon Champagne, and the Rosé Champagne Afternoon Tea is £75, including a glass of Billecart-Salmon Rosé Champagne. The menu includes Anster cheddar & prune chutney on tomato bread, pulled ham hock on brown bread with grain mustard, smoked trout & cucumber roulade on rye bread, and devilled egg & cress on milk loaf, as well as fruit and plain scones, and Breton biscuit with Satilla chocolate ganache. The tea selection features Witchery Blend (hand-crafted for the Witchery by Pekoe Tea Edinburgh), Chai Black (premium Assam and Darjeeling teas with chai spices), Earl Grey (Chinese black tea with natural bergamot oil), Planters' Green (large leaf tea), Peppermint, Whole Chamomile Flowers, and Lemongrass and Ginger. Please note: Afternoon Tea is not available during July, August and the festive period 21/12 - 05/01.
