Review summary
Based on recent reviews
Powered by AI
Guests frequently highlight the spaciousness and comfort of the rooms, particularly in the cottages next to the main building, with some even receiving a mews-style family suite. Many appreciate the hotel's traditional pub atmosphere, beautiful inglenook fireplace, and its location next to the river with a pleasant beer garden; the hot breakfast, offered at a reasonable price, is considered a good selection, though a few guests found it underwhelming. While most found the experience lovely, some guests have noted that certain rooms can be quite small.

My room had a lovely balcony, and it was such a treat. The bed was comfortable. The shower was great, it was so refreshing after a long day!
The food was very average. The meal was overpriced and not good. It took 45 minutes to arrive, though I was looking forward to it.

family suitefriendly staffuncomfortable bedcold buffet
i was allocated a mews style family suite. it was perfect for all four of us! the staff were friendly and worked hard.
The bed was uncomfortable and the food looked under par. the pepsi tasted odd. It was like it had no taste. i also thought breakfast was underwhelming, the hot buffet was cold, and there were no sausages until some cheap frozen ones looked, those had no taste.

great locationvisible moldshower flood
the location is great, i must admit.
our room was far from ideal, it was tiny. i found mold in the shower, a real disappointment. the shower door didn't shut correctly either, and that caused a bit of a flood.

a nice place for a quick break

friendly staffopen firegood food
i found the staff friendly, they were quite helpful. the open fire was a welcome touch and gave the place character. parking was adequate, i am unsure how it would be in summer. food and drink in the evening was very good and reasonably priced.
the room i stayed in needed an update and looked tired, as did the garden and patio. the carpet made a plasticky sound when walked on. i had bites on my ankles, likely from the bed.
Rooms
8/10
The classic double room included basic amenities. i noted a standard double bed with fresh linens. there was also a small work desk and a television. The room size allowed for comfortable movement.
