The North Lakes Hotel and Spa is appreciated for its location, convenient for exploring the Lake District, with Keswick, Martindale and Lowther castle within a short drive. Many guests find the rooms spacious and spotlessly clean, with comfortable beds and nice touches such as fresh milk and cookies upon arrival; family rooms include bunk beds, children's dressing gowns and slippers. The leisure facilities, including the swimming pool, are often mentioned as lovely and very clean; while some found the spa area crowded, it seems popular. Some guests have mentioned issues such as mould under the bath taps.

Mixed Feelings About My Stay

black moldmarked bathrobe
The room definitely had issues. I found black mold behind the bath taps. It was really bad! My bathrobe also had a lot of pen marks on it. These issues really detracted from the overall experience.

Mixed feelings, sadly

excellent dinnerextra feeunderwhelming exterior
The dinner was excellent value for money and the restaurant was AMAZING!!!
I was disappointed that spa facilities were not included in the price. I booked through a third party, and it turns out you have to pay an extra fee. The exterior looks very dated and drab. The rooms felt quite ordinary for the price, too.

The team met in two different conference rooms over two days. megan hastwell, the conference and events coordinator, was excellent. She was patient and flexible. we appreciated her superb organisation. she helped us to get the right package together. for two days. She was lovely to deal with.
the bar seemed to close on the whim of the staff. they deemed it 'too quiet' and stopped serving around 10 o'clock.

the room was a letdown. i booked a 'signature double room' but it felt far from it. the carpet had some questionable stains, and there were splashes on the walls. it just didn't feel like the high-end experience i was hoping for.
