The Pied Bull, a traditional coaching inn on the west side of Northgate Street, offers rooms with original features. Double and twin rooms are decorated. The Brewers Cottage, behind the main building on King Street, features five individually designed rooms; two are on the ground floor for easy access. Deluxe Family Suites include one double and one twin room, plus a bathroom with a fireplace and roll-top bath. The Premier Suite showcases Jacobean wooden paneling. Rooms include complimentary tea/coffee facilities, digital TV, and en-suite bathrooms. Superior double rooms offer more space. Please note that rooms facing the street may experience some noise. Four Poster Suites include a free-standing bath, a separate shower room and garden views. Room sizes vary from 120 to 590 sq ft.
On-Site Restaurant & Microbrewery
The Pied Bull features an on-site restaurant serving freshly prepared food with locally sourced ingredients. Award-winning Pied Bull ales are included in many dishes. Guests can select from a menu including fresh fish and steaks. A children's menu is available. The bar serves fine real ales from the on-site microbrewery and guest beers from the local area and across the UK. There is also a range of spirits, including Scottish malt whiskey and over 30 gins. The bar area reflects the heritage of the building. Award-winning Pied Bull ales are crafted by master brewer Richard Sedgewick, who uses hops and malts from around the world. The idyllic Beer Terrace is open daily for food and drink between 11 AM and 9 PM.
Brewery Tours & Beer
The Pied Bull features its own microbrewery and bar with ales, wines, and beers. Keg and cask beers are crafted by award-winning master brewer Richard Sedgewick. Brewery tours are available. The bar is open Monday to Thursday from 10 AM to 11 PM, Friday and Saturday from 10 AM to midnight, and Sunday from 10 AM to 11 PM. There is a traditional Sunday lunch.
Location and Nearby Attractions
The Pied Bull is within Chester's Roman city walls. Chester Racecourse, the oldest racecourse in England, is a 10-minute walk. The Storyhouse theatre, cinema, and library are nearby. Cheshire Oaks, the UK's largest designer outlet center and Chester Zoo is 15 minutes by car. Chester is the only city in Britain with complete Roman defensive walls. Chester Hawarden Airport is 15 km away. It is a 15-minute walk from Chester train station.
