Review summary
Based on recent reviews
Powered by AI
The Fujiya Hotel is widely appreciated for its historical charm, allowing guests to immerse themselves in its rich heritage, with some noting it's more like a museum. The onsen experience is a highlight for many, offering mountain views from the top floor and contemporary facilities, in addition to the convenience of hot spring water directly in the rooms. Guests frequently praise the spaciousness and amenities of the rooms, including features like smart toilets, as well as the delicious dining experiences, especially the traditional Japanese breakfast and the Western restaurant's silver service, though a few have found the service lacking at times. The beautiful gardens, complete with koi fish and occasional four-leaf clovers, provide a serene escape.

sad gym bad food
the gym turned out to be a sad joke. a couple of stationary bikes and medicine balls were there. dont call it a gym if you don't have one. also, the food was not good for the price. i paid too much for bad curry and frozen chicken tenders.

historical hotel experience!

spacious areas super decor excellent service
I loved the communal areas. They are spacious. the hotel decor is super special. Both the interior and exterior impressed me! the location adds to the tranquility and i received excellent service.
the restaurant had very little options for kids and they seemed to deprioritise the guest experience. i wanted a beer in the cafe but they were closing. they wouldn't allow me to take the beer to the cafe either, even though they serve there!
Service

the staff go above and beyond. i got to dine in superb fashion with wagyu dinner in their amazing japanese restaurant. it was an very nice continental breakfast with good surprises.
Rooms
10/10
The rooms were well appointed and comfortable. They also felt large by japanese standards. the heritage hotel has lovely gardens! there is an onsen overlooking the hills, a very special touch.

a charming, historical stay!

beautiful decor personalised tour relaxing spa historical setting
the decor was beautiful, it fit the historical setting. i received a personalised tour of the hotel and its facilities, charmed i was. the spa was so relaxing, i loved it! i especially loved having tea and apple pie at the very table john lennon and yoko ono frequented.
one minor thing, the 'gym' is basically just a couple of stationary bikes and medicine balls. it isn't really a full gym.
Facilities
9/10
This hotel has a public bath that is a 5-star experience, i loved visiting it. the dining areas feature a fine japanese ambience, very tasteful. the gardens allow guests to feed koi fish. Food is provided near the reception area.
Location
10/10
the hotel sits close to the train station, very convenient. this makes it easy to use passes to see local sights. the hotel offers free pickup and dropoff service, which really added to the charm. this is a perfect base for exploring the surrounding area.
Rooms

my room was newly renovated and beautiful, a lovely combination. western breakfast was good, but japanese breakfast was really good!!! the rooms are quite large. they are modern, yet still disclose the building's extensive history.
