admirable stay in a castle room
helpful staff relaxing treatments delicious meal
I found the staff very helpful! they assisted with our luggage. i also appreciated the spa treatments. They were very relaxing. the dining experience at sandemans restaurant included a delicious seven-course meal with fine views.
the absence of draft options at the bar was a slight disappointment. there were only bottles available.

thin walls out of order hot tub
the staff was friendly, i guess. the location was fine.
The room was not what i expected. The bathroom felt small and dated. plus, the walls seemed thin. I could hear everything happening in the hallway, which wasn't ideal for sleeping. the spa? don't even get me started. the hot tub was out of order!

a nice getaway
special touch champagne arrival welcome plate
the staff remembered small details. it includes names and preferences. i also received champagne and a welcome plate due to our honeymoon. these little gestures added a special touch to my stay.
the service was slow. i waited around two hours for two courses one evening. it includes delivering wrong food and delayed clearing of plates.

dirty carpet lodge room
the room they gave to me, a so-called 'woodland room', was not in the main castle. it was in some kind of attached lodge. this room needed a serious scrub. i saw marks all over the walls and the carpet looked pretty suspect. i asked to move, but they couldn't do it then. the decor was awful, not at all what one expects at a so called castle, more like a teenager's bedroom. the spa was alright, but nothing to write home about either.

An Acceptable Stay
polite staff excellent dinner faulty door handheld shower
The staff were unfailingly polite. The main hotel restaurant provided excellent dinner and breakfast. I also found the room to be large and very comfortable. Dinner in the 1892 On The Loch was excellent as well.
The shower head did not work well. I had to use the hand held shower. The bathroom door was also faulty. It was not possible to lock or fully close the door.
