Historical Charm with Minor Hiccups

magnificent building furnished room cute staff

The main building is magnificent both inside and out. The modern wing rooms are spacious and beautifully furnished. Staff members were consistently friendly and cute (magdalena deserves a special mention).

I was offered an upgrade, but the room was only bang average. I was told food and drinks in the room were part of the upgrade, but I was charged later. Drinks were in the fridge, but the label said they were complimentary (this felt awkward).

Rooms

9/10

The room featured comfortable beds and all necessary amenities. A wardrobe contained bathrobes, a hairdryer, an iron, and an ironing board. Everything was spotlessly clean (natalia's attention to detail was appreciated).

Facilities

8/10

The building includes spaces like the great library and long gallery. Guests can explore the history and architecture at their leisure. The hotel offers spa services (i got an upgrade due to a cancellation).

Location

9/10

The location is convenient, with the train station only a short taxi ride away. This provides easy access to the surrounding areas. The building maintains its original character and is well-preserved.

The grounds were picturesque, their beauty upgraded with the historical architecture surrounding them. the brasserie offered a good culinary experience. Its dishes were prepared with care.

The spa facilities seemed a bit overcrowded. I struggled to fully relax. the absence of draught options at the bar disappointed me, limiting my choices.

Really good Stay

fine architecture warm welcome excellent food fantastic sauna

The hotel's architecture impressed me greatly it dates back to the 1600s. Staff members extended a warm welcome and gave me the freedom to explore the hotel. The food offered many choices, specifically accommodating my gluten-free needs. The gym and sauna were well maintained and easy to access.

The coffee could have been better tasting I feel, but it was a minor thing.

Facilities

9/10

The outdoor seating and loungers were perfect for enjoying the weather and spending time outside. The chess board outside added to the entertainment and visual appeal of the grounds for the guests.

Service

10/10

The reception staff were helpful during check-in and check-out, ensuring a smooth process. The brasserie staff offered excellent service for a large family meal, catering to both adults and children with care.

historic charm with modern comfort

beautiful room dedicated staff inviting pool high standard

I enjoyed my second visit a lot. It maintains a high standard. the west wing's beautiful room gave a contrast from the main building. the staff demonstrated dedication and they aimed to please. the pool was inviting, though it could get crowded on weekends.

The garden close to the spa looked neglected. It could have been fine with a little work.

Location

9/10

the hotel is conveniently located with easy access, a short taxi ride takes you to the train station. the building's preservation is excellent. modern rooms are comfortable.

Rooms

8/10

my room was sizable, equipped with a super comfy bed, and met all my needs. quiet surroundings ensured a sound sleep. however! the room lacked accessible power outlets, a plug was inconveniently located across the room.

Dining

9/10

the restaurant presented great dishes, and cocktails at the bar near reception were good. the afternoon tea was also excellent. food was delicious and the staff very attentive.

Service

10/10

the hotel staff exhibited friendliness and helpfulness. the service was 5 star. i had a really nice experience.
