Dining at Cabra Castle
The Courtroom Restaurant offers an award-winning menu featuring Irish cuisine with locally sourced products, complemented by a wine list; it is open from 7:00 PM daily. A four-course lunch menu with Sunday roast options is available. Guests are greeted with a sparkling cocktail infused with chocolate cherries. The Derby Bar serves food throughout the day, including Traditional Fish & Chips and Smoked Chicken Caesar Salad. Pizzas made with homemade dough and cooked in a wood-fired oven are available Thursday to Sunday. A special touch is a glass of house wine or beer per person upon check-in.

Cabra Castle is set on 100 acres of parkland and gardens, adjacent to Dún a Rí Forest Park. A 1 km wooded walkway allows guests to immerse themselves in nature. Onsite, The Granary accommodates special events, private and corporate parties. Nearby attractions include Lough an Leagh Mountain (7km of walking trails), the World Heritage Site of Newgrange, Knowth and Dowth, and the medieval town of Carlingford. The castle is four miles from Carrickmacross, home to Carrickmacross Lace and the Patrick Kavanagh Centre.
Location and Access
Cabra Castle Hotel is located in the east of County Cavan, near Kingscourt, bordering Co. Monaghan, Co. Meath, and Co. Cavan. Dublin is 80 km away. The medieval town of Carlingford is just over an hour's drive from the castle. Drogheda, a historic town with medieval sites, is approximately 45 minutes away.
Services Offered
Cabra Castle is a civil registration venue for marriages. Staff recycles table linens and toweling for cleaning. Individual menus are disposed of after each guest use. The hotel offers suggestion boxes for staff involvement. A suggestion box is available for staff to provide feedback. Products such as meat, fresh fish, salads, eggs, and cheeses are sourced locally. A tree planting program has planted over 5,000 trees since 2019.
