Review summary
Based on recent reviews
Powered by AI
The Joiners Arms is praised for its charming, clean rooms, some featuring roll-top baths and Juliet balconies with lovely views. Guests often enjoy the rural location, finding it ideal for countryside walks and a convenient 15-minute walk to the sea. The pub/restaurant next door is a highlight for many, with its very good food, though some guests have noted that the free-standing bath ran cold water sometimes. Furthermore, the hotel's proximity to Alnwick Castle (less than 30 minutes by car) makes it a convenient base for exploring.

Reasonable Experience Overall

friendly staff helpful staff good food poor lighting insufficient space chipped enamel
The staff displayed very friendly service. Everyone seemed helpful and eager to assist. I also liked the breakfast. The food options provided a good start to the day.
I found the room lighting to be poor, it was quite dim. The bathroom lacked sufficient vanity space. I also noticed chipped enamel on the freestanding bath.

Lovely Coastal Retreat

Acceptable Stay but Overrated

outdated room road noise
The breakfast was satisfactory and offered a good range of options.
The room, named Sandwood Bay, was not excellent. It felt quite outdated and showed signs of wear. The noise from the nearby road was a major disturbance during the night. It really disrupted my sleep.

Great experience

food variety hot tub log burner
The food at the pub was lovely with a great variety. The staff turned up the temperature of our hot tub, that was great! The log burner was an additional treat in the shepherds hut.
There WAS a problem with the boiler during our one night stay and we had no hot water for a shower or a wash.

The room was very clean and had all amenities available . I loved the roll top bath and the bed was especially comfortable. Being right next to the pub added convenience.
