4-star waterfront yacht club in Hamble-le-Rice

Facilities

The Royal Southern Yacht Club offers access to a clubhouse featuring a restaurant, bars, and event spaces for various occasions. The Prince Philip Yacht Haven provides berthing options, including annual and visitor slips on the River Hamble. Additionally, a range of social events and activities, such as racing and cruising, are regularly organized for members and guests.

Dining

The River Room Restaurant serves a variety of dining options, focusing on locally sourced ingredients. In addition to regular menus, special events such as Sunday carveries offer unique culinary experiences. The club also hosts themed gatherings and social events throughout the year, providing diverse dining choices.

Activities

Membership provides access to numerous sailing and motorboat rallies organized on the Solent. Events such as Ladies Afloat focus on empowering female members with sailing opportunities and social interactions. The sailing program includes cruiser racing and family cruises, encouraging participation from all age groups.

Location

Located in Hamble-le-Rice, the Royal Southern Yacht Club is situated on the waterfront of the River Hamble. Its proximity to the Central Solent offers easy access to prime sailing destinations. The club's location makes it a central hub for yachting in the UK, attracting both local and visiting yachtsmen.

Highlights

Facilities: Access to clubhouse with bars and restaurants

Accommodation: 11 bedrooms in historic cottages

Dining: River Room Restaurant with locally sourced menus

Activities: Regular sailing and motorboat rallies

Location: Waterfront on the River Hamble

“The yacht club presents a paradox: a potentially charming stay marred by inconsistency. Its location near the marina promises picturesque views and access to sailing activities, but dated interiors and service hiccups detract from the experience. For dedicated sailing enthusiasts, the history and club atmosphere might compensate, though others might find better value elsewhere.”
