Review summary
Based on recent reviews
Powered by AI
The Rose and Crown, a Grade II listed building dating back to the 15th century, offers guests a stay in a historic coaching inn with Tudor and Georgian architectural elements. The rooms are spacious, some featuring modern bathrooms, and equipped with amenities such as a fan, kettle, and drinks. Its central Wisbech location provides convenient access to shops, and it's near a Wetherspoons pub, with gated parking available in the courtyard; however, some guests have noted that the surrounding area isn't particularly interesting.

mixed feelings about the stay

stale smoke disturbing stain
The room reeked of stale smoke. the bathroom was a disaster. The shower head sprayed water everywhere but where it should and there was a disturbing stain on the carpet. i also found a half-eaten sandwich under the bed. It was a lovely surprise.

Decent stay with helpful staff

helpful staff complimentary items interesting building on-site parking
Housekeepers ensured my room had all complimentary items. Receptionists offered polite and helpful assistance. I found the building interesting with many quirks. The manager was friendly and shared hotel history. Parking on site was convenient and a bonus.
The area surrounding the hotel was not pretty.
Facilities

The hotel has on site parking, a bonus. This parking allows convenient access to the hotel. The location makes nearby Georgian crescents and the riverside promenade accessible.
Rooms
9/10
The room was spacious and warm on a chilly night. It included a lovely bathroom and was quiet. The building is an antique, with some charm and character. The bed in the room was comfy.

traditional building helpful manager good sleep absent breakfast single pillow loose socket
The building is a traditional one. It seems to have seen a lot of good days. I slept very well . The manager was very lovely and helpful. He sorted out an issue I had with my car the next day.
There was no breakfast available. I found only one pillow per person in the room. When I unplugged the kettle, the plug socket almost came off the wall. It felt a little unsafe.
