Rooms: Smart Design
Public, a trendy hotel with a focus on design, is located in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, near numerous bars. After walking under a stone portico, guests will find wooden platforms for beds topped with white linens. Rooms feature beige walls with baroque mirrors and floor-to-ceiling windows. Sinks are next to small wardrobes with digital laptop-sized safes, small mini-fridges stocked with Evian water, and steamers.
Dining: Diverse Options
Louis is a casual spot serving egg sandwiches, salads, yogurt, and La Colombe coffee. Public Kitchen, helmed by chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, offers New American fare such as fish, pizza, and Eggs Benedict. Diego, a gentlemen's club-style bar, serves cocktails and light food, featuring stylish seating and a fireplace. There is also a cantina and pisco bar by chef Diego Muñoz, serving Peruvian cocktails. A new dinner menu is available starting at 5 PM.
Leisure and Entertainment
Guests can access recreation opportunities, including a nightclub and a 24-hour health club with Peloton bikes. The hotel offers daily fitness classes, such as pilates, yoga, HIIT, and meditation, led by trainers who train professional athletes and celebrities. Aarmy, located at 636 Broadway, New York, NY 10012, offers music-based bootcamp and cycle sessions. Public Arts is a nightclub and event space with red-velvet curtains and leather seating, hosting music performances, comedy shows, and art exhibits. The rooftop bar has panoramic windows.
Location and Access
Public is a guardian of the Lower East Side. Bordered by Nolita and Chinatown, it's a mix of old tenement buildings and condos. It is just a 10-minute walk from Essex Street / Delancey Street and 3.5 km from Grand Central. Public is 20 km from LaGuardia. Landmarks nearby include the African Burial Ground National Monument (1.5 km), the New Museum of Contemporary Art (0.5 km), and Katz's Delicatessen (0.5 km).
Hotel Services
Additional features include complimentary wireless Internet access and concierge services. A boutique store, Trade, sells jewelry, books, and handicrafts. Babysitting/childcare is available. The Lobby Bar is another popular place to grab a nighttime cocktail or coffee. Corporate Traveler Membership includes access to a private guest lounge, complimentary daily wellness classes, and bicycle rental. Complimentary access is available for guests and $15 passes for non-guests. Open daily from 10 AM - 4 PM.
“Public stands out with its trendy decor and emphasis on wellness, featuring daily fitness classes and a state-of-the-art gym; the rooftop bar, with its stunning panoramic views and renowned DJs, creates a vibrant nightlife experience, complemented by curated dining from Jean-Georges Vongerichten. Its location in the Lower East Side places guests near cultural venues and diverse dining. In my opinion, this hotel successfully blends style, wellness, and social experiences.”
