the building is full of war memorabilia. i noticed history and atmosphere. food was fantastic, i felt. the staff did a great job.

i found the wifi almost nonexistent. this made connectivity impossible, and phone reception was also poor. it was a slight inconvenience.

The grounds were magnificent and very well maintained.

The room was slightly disappointing. I booked a garden view room, but there was only a single soft chair. I had seen a picture online with a table and two chairs and assumed, wrongly, that I could eat in the room. The reception staff did not seem very helpful. I felt I bothered them.

the gardens are extensive and beautifully kept. fountains abound with various spots to catch fine views of the hotel. our room was large and had a beautiful view of the garden. breakfast was lovely and plenty to be had.

The room was hot. Windows could not be left open. there was constant noise from kitchen fans, and deliveries. bottle bins were emptied late at night, and i noticed the smell of the fryers.

i stayed locally and called in for a drink one evening, but i was disappointed. the bar area felt a bit gloomy and needs some attention. it didn't really have any atmosphere and felt a bit bland..
