Dining with a View
The Westward Restaurant, included in the Michelin Guide and awarded L'Assiette Michelin, has views out to the islands. The menu features seafood freshly caught nearby, Argyll Hill lamb, venison, and beef, plus vegetarian and vegan options. The Crinan Seafood Bar offers fresh seafood and views of the Crinan Canal sea lock. Lock 16 Seafood restaurant is open during the summer on Friday and Saturday evenings. The Coffee Shop offers home baking and light lunches. The General's Bar offers a full range of whiskies. Special dishes include Jumbo Prawns Corryvreckan.
Activities and Scenery
Guests can walk along the Crinan Canal, climb the hills, or visit the Beaver Centre at Barrandaimh. Boat trips on the MV Sgarbh are available. Machrihanish and Dunaverty skirt the beaches made famous by Paul McCartney and the Campbeltown Pipe Band. The remains of the ancient fortress of the Scots at Dunadd are nearby. The hotel has a secret garden. Golfers can head for Machrihanish Championship Links Course. Cyclists can access the Caledonia Way (National Route 78).
Location and Access
Crinan Hotel is located at the north end of the Crinan Canal, connecting Loch Fyne to the Atlantic Ocean. It is 6.5 miles from Lochgilphead and 35 miles from Oban. Campbeltown is 95 km away. The hotel is near the Scottish Beaver Trial in Knapdale Forest, Duntrune Castle, and Kilmartin House Museum.
