lovely abbey stay

attentive landlord hot plates ample gravy high service

We parked opposite the inn during our abbey visit. the landlord accommodated our walk-in request for sunday lunch (around 1 pm) without hesitation. we ordered topside of beef, one large and one medium, requesting rare preparation. Both were delivered on hot plates, a nice touch, alongside seasonal vegetables, a delicious yorkshire pudding, and ample gravy. the beer was well-kept, and i found a high level of service consistently present throughout our visit.

The room was close to the pub. There was some noise late into the first night, but it quieted down the second night. it reminded me a bit of university life (it wasn't unpleasant for me).

the pub features sports and music entertainment. the beer is reasonably priced (the roast is amazing too!). i also noted that this place was a winner of "4 in a bed", quite an accomplishment.

the room was light and fresh (it had everything we needed). i liked the self-service breakfast option and free hot drinks throughout our stay. there was also a separate sitting area, which i found convenient and perfect for a relaxing time.

my room was clean. access to the town center was easy. staff were friendly and the hotel was nice. the room was comfortable.

information in the room was incorrect about dinner service times. it was raining heavily and finding food elsewhere was difficult.

spring mattress rat trap

the location was perfect for what i needed, it was central.

I really wasn't happy about a few things. the room was quite small. i could feel the springs in the mattress, it was that bad. also, finding a rat trap near the entrance really put me off. Made me uneasy.

The location was acceptable.

Upon arrival, I found a rat trap in plain view near the accommodation entrance, quite appalling. My room was situated above the kitchen. A cooler activated every half hour throughout the night. The provided body wash was limited to a small bottle. I would expect more amenities given the price I paid.

The location was quite convenient for exploring the town.

My room was not great. The information in the room stated food service extended until 9.00pm. upon returning at 8.00pm, I was informed the chef had already left for the evening.
