lovely stay with great food

dinner menu wine selection efficient team

i have visited several times, and the food is always great. the dinner menu has excellent choices, including a good wine selection. the full english breakfast is also marvellous. the team is efficient and engaging.

the bathroom in my king room needs updating, though it did not impact my stay.

The location is away from crowds and close to green bell. the hotel is also near smardale viaduct. It is easily found by sat nav only seven miles from the main road, though the parking was expensive!

The staff are very attentive and friendly, offering a warm welcome. They are also very helpful. fresh milk is provided in a fridge. Staff provided my dog with a sausage for breakfast each morning.

the room felt a bit small. it seemed more like a single than a proper double, disappointing. also, i noticed the bathroom fixtures needed some attention and the toilet was leaking. it was a nuisance throughout my stay.

helpful staff local walk mushroom risotto large starter tasteless fennel greasy rosti

i found the staff helpful. they provided useful advice about local walks. the mushroom risotto i had was nice (i still think about it).

the ham hock starter was quite large. the stone bass main course was a bit disappointing as the fennel lacked flavor. the rosti served with the fish was hard and greasy.
