The Abbotsford Hotel is praised for its tastefully done refurbishment that maintains its traditional character. Guests often appreciate the newly decorated, spacious rooms with quirky, high-quality Scottish themed details, including thoughtful extras like specialist teas and dressing robes. The hotel is conveniently located near Ayr's town center, though some guests have noted the gravel parking lot can make wheeling luggage difficult. mixed feelings, i suppose

weak shower pressuredreadful bathroom lighting
well, they charged me extra for a late checkout. i mean, it was only an hour, but whatever. the lighting in the bathroom was dreadful. it was really unflattering, and made putting on makeup a challenge. apply, twice. the shower pressure was weak too, a real letdown.

lack of liftlimited buffet
I found the lack of a proper lift a considerable inconvenience (especially with heavy luggage). navigating the stairs was difficult. the breakfast buffet also seemed somewhat limited. I expected more variety given the hotel's rating. fresh fruit selection was minimal and pastries looked pre-packaged, impacting the overall quality.

tasteful Scottish retreat

spacious roomsized bedscottish themedry cleaning
The room felt very spacious and featured a generously sized bed, which i LOVED. It showed great class with lots of thoughtful finishing touches and a Scottish theme throughout. Little extras such as soaps, ground coffee, specialist teas, and biscuits, all from local sources, were special additions. I also had dressing robes and slippers.
A day after i checked out, the hotel contacted me. They alleged i damaged a throw and planned to charge my card for dry cleaning. I did not damage anything, and i found this unacceptable so be sure to check all hotel terms.
