Unique Igloo Hotel

The Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel, 25 km from Alta, offers a unique overnight experience. Each room is crafted entirely from ice and snow and features proper bedding with reindeer skins and a warm arctic sleeping bag and pillow softly illuminated by electric lighting.

Dining at Sorrisniva

Sorrisniva offers dining experiences at onsite restaurants. Maku Restaurant features chefs who create dishes using ingredients from Arctic Norway, including seafood from the Alta River and Norwegian sea, reindeer, moose, vegetables from local farms, and local berries. The Lavvu restaurant, designed as a Sami tent, provides a special ambiance for a memorable dining experience. Breakfast features local produce including smoked salmon, dried meats, cheeses, yogurts, berries, a variety of breads, and Norwegian waffles. Sorrisniva is known for its a la carte cuisine featuring salmon, cod, locally smoked or cured fish, reindeer, moose, and wild berries.

Activities and Tours

Guided tours of the Igloo Hotel are available for visitors to see the ice sculptures. Snowmobile excursions through the Alta River valley up to the inland plateau are offered, including the Arctic Light Snowmobile Experience. Helicopter experiences are available. Sorrisniva also offers transport from Alta center and Alta airport for overnighting guests and major experience activities. Jotka Mountain Lodge is approximately 30 km away.

Wilderness Adventures

Sorrisniva provides a range of wilderness adventures throughout the Arctic seasons. Activities include snowmobile safaris and river boat excursions. Most activities include winter clothing for guests. Uncharted Society provides the path to explore uncharted areas. Team building games are available.
