Building History
The building that houses the apartments - known locally as Rúblan or The Rubla - was built in 1961 by local publishing house and bookshop Mál og menning. The building's '60's Mal og menning publishing house origins are still alive although apartments forming this 1994-opened establishment occupy most of the property. The building is in the same building as the famous - and highly atmospheric - Mál og menning bookshop.
Area Activities
Guests take the opportunity to explore the area for water adventures such as sailing and other activities like whale-watching. This route is rich with stunning waterfalls, glaciers and the famous black sand beach surrounded by dramatic unique rock formations. Snæfellsjökull is a gorgeous glacier with many fishing villages where guests can get a real local experience. Vík, a small town at the most southern point of Iceland, is a perfect stop for some lunch.
