lovely culinary experience

excellent instructor helpful chef purpose-built facility
i participated in a 'meze and tapas' cookery course at the seasons cookery school. chefs tom and kieran were excellent instructors, very helpful and knowledgeable. i cooked several dishes including tortilla, flatbread, patatas bravas, and chicken shawarma. the seasons cookery school is a purpose-built facility next to the wellhouse restaurant.
the room i stayed in was quite close to a staircase, and i noticed there wasn't much sound insulation. as a result, there was some noise. i believe that a hotel referring to itself as 'luxury' should cover every base, especially comfort regarding sound insulation.
Location

decent stay overall

sundial garden beautiful grounds friendly staff dated decor faulty toilet visible dust
the grounds are beautiful. i especially enjoyed exploring the sundial garden (it was very peaceful). the building has a lot of history, which i found interesting. the staff were friendly and cute.
during my stay, i noticed some areas looked dated. the ladies' toilets in the restaurant did not flush properly. i also spotted dust on the wood paneling in the dining room.

underwhelming experience

overcooked lobster stringy asparagus
the location just outside the city was acceptable.
I was looking forward to a special meal. I booked to taste tom hamblet's food. unfortunately, the lobster was overcooked and tasteless, a real letdown considering the extra charge. the lamb was fatty, and the asparagus was stringy. i expected more from a place with such a reputation.
