The Fox & Hounds Hotel is often praised for its location, providing direct access to Dartmoor National Park, perfect for walks. Guests frequently highlight the spacious and clean rooms, some offering lovely views; also, the breakfast is lekker and good, with an English breakfast on offer. While generally considered excellent value, some guests have noted smaller rooms or occasional noise from passing lorries. The hotel offers a large, free car park and the convenience of a bus stop right outside.
I enjoyed the convenient parking area. Breakfast had good portions and the quality was high. The helpful staff made check-in easy. I appreciated that. I liked the direct access for dog walks up onto the moor.
My room faced a somewhat busy road, and I noticed a bit of noise early in the morning. Double windows could mitigate sound for a quieter stay.
Rooms
9/10
The room was clean and spacious. I liked the USB charging ports available, a thoughtful addition. The bed was quite comfortable. I slept well.
Service
10/10
Staff members were friendly and helpful. They provided information about local attractions. They facilitated a smooth check-in process, it went well!
Dining
8/10
The breakfast offered a simple, good selection of items. I liked the ample portions. The restaurant provided good value, I thought so!
the staff was really friendly, (i think this is the most important thing!) and provided good service. the location allowed easy access to dartmoor for a nice walk.
the breakfast lacked variety. i would have liked a buffet option for juice and cereal. the bedroom felt a bit dreary. (but it served its purpose for just one night).
