“This hotel strikes me as a restful escape in the Lyth Valley, intentionally set apart from busier tourist spots. Its appeal lies in the family-friendly atmosphere, and the special hot tub cabins coupled with the indoor leisure facilities could provide an opportunity to unwind. The on-site dining, with its emphasis on fresh, homegrown produce, is a distinctive touch that I find particularly appealing.”

The Damson Dene Hotel is generally considered a lovely place to stay, with immaculate grounds featuring a duck pond and miniature village, all enhanced by amazing views. Guests often enjoy the facilities, including the pool, gym, sauna, and available treatments; some opt for the log cabins with private hot tubs and wood-burning stoves, finding them particularly quiet and peaceful. While most appreciate the self-service breakfast, some guests would prefer waiter service at this 4-star hotel.

Acceptable, but room for improvement

noisy guestsunannounced entry
The noise level WAS frustrating. Slamming doors echoed late at night. A cleaner walked into our room without knocking one morning. That was NOT ideal, especially since my daughter was changing. This made us VERY uncomfortable. Some staff training is necessary.

dog-friendly Stay

dog-friendly hoteleasy parkingcosy firefaulty radiator
bringing our dog WAS a huge plus. we could even take her to the bar during meals, so she wasn't alone in the room. easy parking was available and the reception had a cosy fire. the room was quiet, and though compact, it was completely fine.
The radiators didn't work properly. Rooms were VERY hot. curtains in our room did not fully cover the windows. Light came in at night. this impacted privacy and sleep quality.

my family and i stayed for a few nights. the staff was very accommodating to our large family group. they gave us a lovely, spacious room for breakfast and dinner. staff checked regularly, providing tea and coffee.
the gym equipment is not modern. i noticed the weight bench barely stood with the bar. the row machine felt wobbly, and the cable did not hold the weight properly. bathrooms needs update.
