The Crowne Plaza Reading enjoys a lovely location right on the river, and for many, the riverside views were a highlight. Guests often appreciate the breakfast with its good selection of food, and the large, open dining area. While some found parts of the hotel could use some basic repairs and maintenance, the hotel is conveniently walkable to town, and some guests have enjoyed the boat trip departing from right outside the hotel.
the hotel location allowed me to visit my brother easily. the staff provided helpful service throughout my visit. i liked the meals, we relished every bite. the location by the river offered a tranquil backdrop.
the room had a slight cigarette odor in the corridor. i found that bothersome

Acceptable Stay but Room for Improvement
long waitbroken phone
I was not thrilled with the room service. It took nearly an hour for my order to arrive, and the food was lukewarm. The phone in my room also did not work. I had to go to the front desk to request service, defeating the purpose of having it available in the room. I found this very inconvenient.
The location is beautiful right on the Thames path. It offers easy access to the train station. The pool was warm and of a good length. The steam room and sauna were relaxing after a day of travel.
I found that parking incurred a fee per night which was unexpected given the overall cost of the stay.
Dining
9/10
Breakfast included many choices for all tastes. I especially enjoyed the fresh fruit selection and hot items. The restaurant catered well to both meat eaters and vegetarians with diverse options.
Rooms
8/10
My room was quiet. The bed was large and comfortable. I found tea and coffee making facilities. I appreciated the available fridge for storing drinks and snacks .
Facilities
9/10
The hotel has a gym. The gym is well-equipped for a solid workout. Long opening times for the leisure facilities helped me to unwind each evening with no rush.

i found the spa disappointing because i couldn't lock the lockers in the changing rooms, a security issue that needs addressing (this was a real concern). someone had gone through my pockets, unsettling.
