I found the location central for exploring whisky distilleries nearby. Breakfast was quite good and I enjoyed the friendly staff. The Quaich bar impressed me with its selection, and the barman knew a great deal about whiskies.
My stay started with some minor inconveniences. The wash cloth had a stain on it. The shower head dripped. I reported it. the shower drain was slow.

mixed experience at the hotel

knowledgeable whisky bar staffmissing elevatorself-service
the whisky bar staff were very knowledgeable about their selection.
i was not happy with the fact the hotel seemed to lack an elevator. carrying luggage up the stairs was frustrating, especially with no bellhop available to assist, it seemed purely self-service.

i found the staff quite helpful. the whiskey bar was well run. the food and drinks were fantastic! i really enjoyed the bartender in the whiskey bar. he knew a lot about whiskey.
my expectations were high. i thought it was a building in a garden next to a river. it was not! the hotel is between two roads and has a lot of traffic noise. it looks out on the parking in front of the hotel.

I appreciated the attention to detail throughout the premises. The room had White Company toiletries provided, a lovely touch. The breakfast was great (especially the pancakes!).
I found that self-service for water required a trip to the adjoining Spey Inn.
