Review summary
Based on recent reviews
Powered by AI
Battlesteads offers guests spacious rooms, some featuring luxurious bathrooms and terraces, with a super king bed and walk-in shower also being a common find. The hotel's observatory is a highlight for many, especially in the dark sky location, and the food, including the Northumbrian platter breakfast, is widely praised. Though some guests have occasionally noted noise from traffic in rooms facing the main road, the overall experience is considered great value, with birdwatching opportunities in the garden adding to the appeal.

fine countrysidepoor communicationconfusing menus
The location is great with roads offering fine countryside views.
The kitchen seemed to lack communication with the front of house staff. I asked about a tasting menu, but was not offered it. The staff should also know when items on the a la carte menu are unavailable. I ordered something they did not have. Two breakfast menus caused confusion since there was no explanation and they served toast before any cooked items, so it was likely cold.

really good northumberland experience

comfortable bedspacious bathroomfresh fruitmissing screw
the king size bed was very comfortable, offering a restful sleep. i appreciated the spacious bathroom in my room, it had plenty of room to move around. fresh fruit and daily refreshed cookies were a lovely touch. the room also included an ironing board and a large desk fan (i didn't even need to ask for these things!).
I noticed that the maintenance in the room was not perfect. The wardrobe doors were missing a screw, so they did not shut properly.
Dining
9/10
the breakfast offered both continental and full english options, providing plenty of choice. i observed garden birdfeeders from my table in the airy conservatory area. the dinner menu had limited items, however the chef seemed to present options to accommodate various tastes.
Facilities
9/10
the hotel has lodges who might prefer a more individual experience (i stayed in the main building, though). it is conveniently located close to the main village road. traffic seemed light around the hotel's location near the village road.
Service
10/10
the staff was very helpful and courteous throughout my visit, always eager to assist. i engaged with jack and chanel more often as they handled reception, bar, and dining duties. their multitasking skills were excellent .
Rooms
9/10
my room featured plenty of wardrobe space, helpful for my luggage. the tv provided extensive channels, including radio options for entertainment. the room had many electric sockets, useful for charging devices.
