Review summary
Based on recent reviews
Powered by AI
The Wynnstay, housed in a stunning building with rich carved oak interiors, offers a comfortable stay right on the high street in the centre of Machynlleth, making it easy to explore the town. Guests often appreciate the spacious rooms and the very good breakfast with plenty of choice. Some guests have noted the decor may be more 'shabby' than 'shabby chic,' but many enjoy the building's character. With free parking available at the rear, it's also a great base to enjoy the local ales and is close to restaurants and pubs.

charming stay in town centre

comfortable room friendly staff
I had a comfortable room with a great bed and comfy pillows! the staff were very friendly and helpful. dinner was superb. The cocktails were delicious and breakfast was excellent.
The common areas were very cold. The open fires weren't enough to make the place warm! the radiators were barely on, so it was not very comfortable, especially in the evenings.
Location
9/10
The hotel is located in the centre and is not far from the train station. This location offers easy access to local attractions and transport links, though the parking was expensive!
Dining
10/10
The breakfast was beautifully cooked, with both a full welsh option and smoked haddock. The dinner menu offered a variety of quality dishes for every course, including a duo of trout, welsh lamb, and local cheeses.
Service
10/10
the staff went to fetch laverbread for breakfast after i mentioned i liked it, even though it was not on the menu! they were very helpful and obliging, showcasing down-to-earth hospitality.

charming stay

awesome breakfast quality choice local produce free parking
the all-in package included a really good breakfast. dinner was really good with quality a la carte choices. i found that much of the produce was locally sourced. the free parking at the hotel rear was a surprise because i usually get a headache about that.
the bathroom looked dated. i noticed no ventilation unless you open the window. i saw paint peeling in some places though i didn't spot noticeable dampness.

all the hotel staff were friendly. they were also very helpful with directions. i liked that they were always on hand to assist with any enquiries and nothing seemed too much trouble for any of them.

the hotel has character and charm. i could walk out the front door into the heart of the town on market day. the location is convenient to the train station. the building had a very ancient beam across the ceiling.

Fantastic Stay!

secure parking clean room necessary amenities friendly staff
The breakfast offered a great start to the day , with many options. I appreciated the secure motorbike parking provided. I found the room clean , and it had all the necessary amenities. The staff proved to be friendly and, and that really made a difference.
I noticed the building shows some age and could benefit from some restoration projects , but that didn't detract too much from my overall experience.
