excellent family stay

helpful staffclean lodgefree parking
the staff was very helpful. i found the lodge to be very clean and tidy. the location is great as it's a short walk to the castle and the town centre. it's also nice that there is free parking.
the single beds in the family room were a bit short for my teenager.
Dining
8/10
breakfast included standard english options. the restaurant has a medieval theme with wall hangings and exposed beams (though it might be subtle). food options may be limited later in the evening, specifically on sundays.
Rooms
9/10
the rooms are spacious. i had a family room in a lodge, the layout and size are good. there are themed decorations like knight's pictures on the wallpaper which is a fun detail for kids.
Facilities
9/10
the grounds have play equipment and stalls, especially great for children. the hotel offers entertainment like knights giving sword fighting lessons. i think the entertainment timing could be better coordinated with dinner sittings.
Service
10/10
the staff were very polite (i felt so thankful). they were pretty good too help. check-in was easy and efficient. the staff also offer discounted tickets for the castle if you stay at the hotel.

I loved the warm greeting from the staff at check-in! they were helpful in every role. our chalet was super clean. It had plenty of refreshments and soaps.
The single beds aren't really suitable for older children. My kid had their feet sticking over the end. the dinner was buffet style, but the quality was kind of disappointing.
