small bathroom poor shower
The superior double room four poster bed was a bit cramped. the bathroom was like it used to be a wardrobe. It was very small. the shower was poor. i had trouble getting the water to hit me.

charming castle stay!
parking space lovely grounds
The building was amazing and quite quirky. lots of parking space was available. the room was clean and the bathroom a great size. It was not in the main building, but that did not bother me. i found the grounds to be really lovely.
The hotel room was very dated! the beds felt old. I could feel every spring, difficult to sleep. the breakfast was not the best. I had to wait a long time, and when it arrived, it was only just warm. it was not enjoyable. i think the hotel is overpriced considering the room and food quality.

The hotel offers a remote location that might be difficult to reach without a vehicle, so you're stuck to eat and drink there. The lovely grounds, however, do help to offset that issue somewhat.

Rooms are cramped and accessed by steps. i was upgraded to a superior room. It was a bit small. not all rooms have a deadlock inside the door. I think this should be standard for security, even if the staff is friendly!

The hotel serves breakfast in the 1189 kitchen & bar! the breakfast includes good quality produce for cooked items, and is cooked to order. This is good if you do not want a buffet! the hot breakfast was very nice.

the room was dated. nesting rooks in the guttering were very noisy at night. some furniture looked like it had seen better days.

a pleasant stay overall
helpful staff ev chargers cramped room uncomfortable bed
The staff were friendly and helpful. i also appreciated the ev chargers available. This made charging my electric vehicle very easy.
the room felt a bit cramped. the bathroom was also quite small, and i found that the bed wasn't very comfortable. i was like i was sleeping on a trampoline

historic charm with a friendly face
thoughtful gesture lovely gardens
The staff showed me the castle's dungeon, this was a really thoughtful gesture. the setting is fine and the gardens around the castle were lovely. i also loved the main hotel building, it felt grand (a great place to explore!). breakfast was fine. It set me up for the day.
the room felt quite dated. i think a refresh would really lift the experience . there was also not much outside seating, which would have been nice to enjoy the lovely surroundings more.

the breakfast team was very attentive and friendly. i received a warm welcome each morning. the restaurant food tasted excellent (i particularly enjoyed the evening meals).
