Boutique & Design Hotel Volkshaus Basel offers 45 rooms with a seating area, a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, a safety deposit box, and a private bathroom with a shower, free toiletries, and a hairdryer. The Cozy Double Room features over 20 square meters with a view into the plane tree covered inner courtyard. The corner rooms offer views of the quarter and historical buildings. Classic double rooms, on the quiet fourth floor, feature a mansard window with views of St Clara Church and Claraplatz square. The hotel provides rooms designed by Herzog & de Meuron, inspired by Grand Hotels from the Belle Epoque, with freestanding beds and spacious washbasins. Junior suites include comfortable seating, king-size box spring beds, and some have a bathtub. Rooms with connecting doors, three large junior suites, and the Terrace Suite with roof terrace are available. The largest suite in ' Kleinbasel ' is over 70 square meters with a view of Grossbasel and the Basel Cathedral and a terrace with a lounge and dining table. Free coffee, tea, and water are available in the rooms.
Culinary Heart
The Brasserie in the Volkshaus Basel serves traditional classics of the ' Cuisine du Marché ' and varied seasonal dishes under mouth-blown lights. The Imi Bar connects the neighborhood and the Volkshaus Basel, serving cocktail classics and signature dishes. The Brasserie and IMI Bar, together with the tree-covered inner courtyard, form the social heart of the building. In fair weather, food and drinks are served outdoors.
Meetings & Events
The Volkshaus Basel provides historical halls with technology, a tree-covered inner courtyard, and an in-house catering team. The Union Hall features stucco ceilings, wooden ornaments, and a small stage, accommodating up to 320 people. The former library allows for events of up to 100 guests with an atrium view. The ballroom accommodates up to 1,300 people and has light and sound installations. A meeting room of 90m² is available. The 74 m2 Terrace Suite can be rented for meetings, private lunches and dinners, or cocktails.
Dance & Entertainment
The Volkshaus Basel hosts concerts, readings, parties, product launches, and lectures. The ballroom has a large stage. The Imi Bar features glass windows designed by Imi Knoebel. Numerous art projects occur, including the Imaginary Collection at Hotel Helvetia in Zurich. Franz Gertsch's first paintings are on display.
Location & Access
Boutique & Design Hotel Volkshaus Basel is a 20-minute walk from Badischer Bahnhof and 15 km from Basel-Mulhouse Airport. It is centrally located in Kleinbasel, a few minutes' walk from the riverside and the Basel Trade Fair. From Basel train station (SBB) and Französischer Bahnhof (French railway station, SNCF) take tram No. 8 to Claraplatz. From EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse, take Bus No. 50 to SBB station, then tram number 8 to Claraplatz station. By car from Germany and France, take the motorway toward Weil am Rhein, exit Basel Nord / KleinhÃ1/4ningen, and follow the signs for Messe.
