Review summary
Based on recent reviews
Powered by AI
The Bear Inn, situated near Alderwasley in Derbyshire's Peak District, is appreciated for its charming, eighteenth-century coaching inn ambiance and convenient access to nearby walks. Guests often enjoy the modern and clean cottages, some featuring a kitchenette and comfortable sofa bed, while others appreciate the spacious rooms in general. Many find the "Little Bear" breakfast option more than ample; however, a few guests have noted occasional queues at the bar when service at the table was less frequent due to the restaurant being busy. The location also offers spectacular views over Derbyshire, making it pretty good value.

I walked past the kitchen and saw the chef smoking. I wish they would do that further away from the entrance.

Adequate Stay

friendly staffconvenient locationproactive staffsmoking chefsunappealing thoughtwi-fi signal
The staff was friendly upon arrival and departure. The location was convenient to Belper, a short drive away. I attended a friend's wedding. The staff checked in and showed me around the cottage.
I saw a couple of chefs smoking outside in the car park upon arrival. I had to walk past them to enter the hotel. The thought of them preparing my dinner was unappealing. The central heating warmed up the cottage fully. The Wi-Fi signal would not work on my phone.
