“Charles Cotton Hotel, nestled in the charming village of Hartington, presents a mixed bag; while the historic building and its setting offer undeniable appeal, reports of noise disturbances and inconsistent service raise concerns. The promise of individually designed rooms and exclusive fishing on the River Dove is tempting, but it seems a more consistent experience is needed to fully realize its potential.”

Review summary

Powered by AI
The Charles Cotton Hotel, a characterful, traditional building in a great location at the centre of Hartington village, provides a convenient base for exploring the area, including popular walking and cycling routes in Derbyshire. Many guests found their rooms spacious, with some noting the new, easy-to-open sash windows and the convenience of off-street parking. The bathrooms, however, have been mentioned by some as small or not particularly clean. Guests can enjoy a lively atmosphere, especially on New Year's Eve with local bands, as well as good drinks in the bar area and tasty dinners.
