“The Star And Garter Hotel, with its Georgian bones and central Andover location, strikes me as a practical choice for families or those exploring nearby attractions like Stonehenge. I noted the Market Bar, described as lively, and the enclosed courtyard-both welcome spots. While some rooms vary in size and style, the basics-parking, WiFi, and breakfast-seem reliably covered.”

Powered by AI
The Star And Garter Hotel enjoys a superb location right in the town center, convenient for Andover's shops and with parking on site. Many guests appreciate the spacious and clean rooms, some of which offer views overlooking the shopping street; others are in quieter annexes, though some guests have noted inconsistencies in room sizes. The breakfast is generally considered excellent, although a few guests found it basic. You will find many restaurants and pubs right around the corner, also the A303 is nearby.

wonderful stay!

character buildinglarge roomcomfortable bed
i found the building had so much character, i was quite impressed. the room was large and clean with a comfortable bed. the bathroom even had a bath, which i really enjoyed after a long day.
the breakfast hot food could have been warmer, it was just slightly lukewarm.
Location

the position is convenient in the middle of everything, though it is not far from the station. shops, bars, and restaurants are just around the corner, it's great.
Facilities

parking is available at the hotel, and there is also a public car park nearby, very convenient. the hotel inside looks better than the outside with its historic building. the former hotel restaurant now hosts a busy pizza express, i noticed.

Excellent Hotel Location and Service

convenient locationfriendly stafftemperature issue
The hotel location was convenient. It was close to local pubs and restaurants (I found some great spots). The staff were friendly and provided excellent assistance. Breakfast offered a wide selection of items.
The room had a temperature issue at night. It felt too warm and opening the window was problematic. A bird was trying to nest nearby and caused disturbance.
Dining
9/10
The breakfast buffet included many options. Guests could choose from a full English breakfast and various cereals (the sausages were notable). The dining area was kept clean and well-stocked by staff.
Rooms
8/10
My room featured a comfortable bed with clean bed linen. Soft pillows contributed to a good night's sleep. The bathroom was sufficiently spacious and included all necessary amenities (towels were provided).

Acceptable stay

helpful staffcentral locationclean roomlimited choicesbathroom windowworn room
The staff were friendly and helpful . I appreciated the hotel's central location, it was very convenient. The room was clean and spacious, with all facilities in good working order, it was grade II listed.
The breakfast buffet had prepackaged cereals, and the choices of warm breakfast were limited. My room's window in the bathroom could not be closed so it was freezing in the morning. The hotel and the room seemed old and worn out to me.
