Dining with local produce
The Mauretania Restaurant is decorated with wood paneling from the ship Mauretania. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner. Guests can eat in the bar or, when weather permits, at the tables in the beer garden. The restaurant menu is complemented by fine wines, draught beers and lagers, and a range of malts. The chef uses locally sourced produce where possible; potatoes for the hand-cut chips are supplied by Hedderwick Farm for 10 months of the year. A Scottish breakfast, including haggis and black pudding, is available. The hotel bar has a selection of over 50 malt whiskeys and 50 gins, mostly from Scottish brands. Two sirloin steaks and a bottle of house wine are available for £35.00. The lounge bar extends the main bar offerings and also features professionally made cocktails. Set menus and buffet packages are available.

“The Royal Mackintosh, with its Victorian bones and independently operated spirit, offers a distinctly Dunbar experience, especially appealing to couples seeking a base near the railway station and local attractions. I found that the hotel's charm hinges on its personalized service and historical touches, like the RMS Mauretania wood paneling, even if some areas could benefit from a refresh. A full Scottish breakfast and a bar stocked with whisky and gin round out the appeal.”
