the room was looked super fresh and warm (that's always a plus).

i was disappointed that the hotel locked up early. i returned at 11 pm only to be questioned in the rain before being let in, despite having pre-warned them i would be late.

the staff were attentive and helpful throughout my stay there were ample parking spaces available at the hotel

i found the set dinner menu inflexible there were limited options for simple changes like swapping potatoes for chips the chicken dish was salty and tough i asked for a simple ice cream dessert but this request was denied

excellent evening meal first class facilities convenient location lack of staffing fire alarm procedure untrained staff member

the breakfast was AMAZING!!! i enjoyed the excellent evening meal, too. the facilities were first class, i must say. everything was very convenient, just off the motorway.

i was quite disappointed by the lack of staffing. there was no clear procedure when the fire alarm sounded. it was worrying that only one seemingly untrained staff member was present and visibly panicking. i found this poor.

The staff was friendly. Breakfast included various options and tasted well. The building was attractive and was recently maintained. There was also plenty of parking.

I was disappointing at the size and design of my room. There was only one tiny bedside table that was fully occupied by a lamp, so I have had no place to rest a book. There were no drawers in the room for me to unpack anything.

Restored Beauty and Great Service

period nature helpful staff

The period nature of the hotel was lovingly restored. The staff proved friendly and helpful. The breakfast included best poached eggs. Staff greeted our four legged member of the family, allowing to eat with our dog in a separate part of the hotel or leave our dog in the room.

I arrived looking forward to an evening meal. I was told the restaurant was closed on Sunday evening. The website did not mention this closure. I had to drag heavy cases up two long flights of stairs. There was no lift.

The Beautiful King Room features comfortable decor. The room had no floor length mirror in the bedroom. There are rooms at the back which have lovely garden view.

Dinner was enjoyed in the winter garden with other guests. The restaurant are sumptuous places. The bar is a relaxing place. Breakfast was served at the table.

Staff were exemplary. Staff offered friendly professional service. Staff are helpful with guests in a wheelchair. Night porter Ryan volunteered to make us a cup.

Decent stay with some issues

The hotel has a great dog friendly policy. The bar had a good selection of ales, wines and spirits. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about drinks.

Our room size was disappointing. There was only one tiny bedside table fully filled by a lamp. No place existed to rest a book, glasses or anythingwith inconvenience

the hotel was very clean it was also well decorated. the staff were tremendous i found them helpful and polite. the evening meal in the restaurant was superb i would highly recommend it.

my room was disappointing in size i also didn't like the design. there was only one tiny bedside table it was fully filled by a lamp. there were no drawers for unpacking my suitcase.
