the freshly baked bread rolls were a great start to the meal. the fish and chips had a light and crispy batter. the mussels were delicious and sweet, served in a creamy sauce.
Rooms

the superior double room was lovely and very clean. tea and coffee facilities included local biscuits. a fridge with water was also in the room. the rooms are tastefully decorated.
The staff was very friendly. The breakfast was gorgeous. Beer prices were very reasonable (I tried a local brew). The hotel is right in the center of town with castle views from the well-kept garden.
The food service was slow at times. It looked understaffed, particularly during peak hours. There was a bit of a wait for our orders to be taken.

a somewhat unremarkable visit
rushed dinner cold dance
The new year's eve dinner felt rushed. They wanted me to select my courses a month prior. they brought the welcome drink reluctantly. I think they forgot about it. the duck pâté didn't sit well. My stomach definitely noticed. the dance floor was outside and freezing. Nobody braved it, so the dance was a bit of a bust.
