The Lion Hotel's historic building and central location make it a convenient base for exploring Shrewsbury, including being within walking distance of the train station and close to attractions like St Alkmunds Church. Guests often appreciate the spacious rooms and tea/coffee making facilities. The on-site parking is a bonus, though it can get busy, and some guests have noted that the cutlery wasn't perfectly clean. Dining at the nearby Henry Tudor Inn is also a frequently recommended option.

The age of this hotel is undeniable, giving it a very special feel as you walk through the entrance. i especially loved the quirky creaking of some floorboards. It added such an atmospheric touch. the hotel's central location proved convenient for exploring everything the town has to offer.
i did notice a slight musty scent in some of the corridors.

dated room sewage smell
The room felt quite dated. It also lacked a nice view, a bit of a letdown. The corridors had a strange smell, like sewage. It wasn't very pleasant. The hotel clearly needs some TLC!
