Rooms at Kames

Kames Hotel offers 10 accommodations, including single rooms with seating areas, electric kettles, and cable TV. All guestrooms include free WiFi, coffee/tea makers, and ironing boards. Some rooms offer sea or garden views. Bathrooms provide free toiletries, with some rooms featuring baths or showers. More spacious rooms offer scenic views of the Kyles of Bute. All rooms also include bath robes, slippers, additional towels and a full compliment of toiletries. Room 2 is on the first floor and it's ensuite includes a shower. Room 4 is on the first floor and it's ensuite includes a bath with shower attachment. Room 9 is on the second floor and it's ensuite includes a roll top bath and shower attachment. It has an apex roof. Please note this room has low ceilings and is not suitable for tall guests.

Dining and Bar

The Kames Hotel features chefs who source local produce for the restaurant's extensive menu and Specials menu. A hearty full Scottish breakfast is served each morning with a sea view. The bar offers a selection of whiskies, craft gins, spirits, wines, lagers, and local ales. A bar menu includes hand-made burgers and battered haddock. The bar welcomes both locals and visitors and has music Saturdays through the summer and roasts through Sundays all day. On our menu you can find a good choice a la carte with local produce as well as traditional fish and chips and bar snacks.

Leisure Activities

Guests at the Kames Hotel can enjoy the large South-facing garden. The Kyles of Bute Golf Course is a 10-minute walk from the hotel. Coastal walks along Ostel Bay (a sandy beach) are a 10-minute drive away. The area's natural beauty can be seen at Loch Fyne and Kilbride Bay Beach. The hotel itself is situated on the water's edge. Other landmarks nearby: Caol Ruadh Sculpture Park - 6.5 km, The Marina - 5 km, Craignafeich Reservoirs - 3.5 km, Ostel Bay Beach - 4.5 km, Tighnabruaich Gallery - 2 km, Asgog Loch - 2.5 km.

Location & Access

The Kames Hotel is in Tighnabruaich, an hour and a half drive from Glasgow, situated between Loch Fyne and the Kyles of Bute. Campbeltown is 75 km away. The nearest airport is Glasgow Airport. To get to the hotel, Option 1 via the famous 'Rest & be Thankful' mountain pass: Take the A82 along Loch Lomond to Tarbet, then the A83 towards Inveraray and Campbeltown. Just after Glendaruel then right on A8003 towards Tighnabruaich. Option 2 via the Dunoon ferry: Take the A8 to Gourock, then Western Ferries from McInroy's Point to Hunter's Quay near Dunoon. National coach services run from cities and towns across Scotland to Dunoon where you can link to local services that will take you to Argyll's Secret Coast. National coach services also run to Tarbert, where you can catch a ferry to Portavadie.
