“Nestled in the Sussex countryside, this establishment presents a wonderful option for a relaxed getaway near attractions like Glyndebourne Opera House and East Sussex golf courses. I especially appreciate that it's a pet-friendly destination and features a charming afternoon tea served on immaculate lawns amidst beautiful gardens. In my view, it distinguishes itself through its historical significance, being a beautifully preserved Gothic Revival house built in 1850.”

smaller bedsrecent refurbishment
i must say, the absence of superking beds was a bit of a letdown. i had specifically inquired about a superior suite with a 6ft bed, seeing as the website and other reviews suggested they existed. upon arrival, i learned that a recent refurbishment had replaced them with smaller beds. apparently, luxury now means sleeping in a bed smaller than the one i have at home

underwhelming experience

poor serviceunavailable manager
The venue was booked for an afternoon event. From 1pm until 6pm. I felt that the manager was too embarrassed to explain why the food service was not up to par. A young waitress delivered the news. this was like a poor showing.

i found the staff friendly. our room had lovely views over the garden. i walked around the grounds, extensive and seemed like a different world. the breakfast was good, and i enjoyed it!!!
The bedroom was very dated and i saw scuff marks on the walls. The paint was chipped.

the building seemed fabulous and historical. i learned queen elizabeth and prince philip stayed frequently when it was a private house. the grounds and gardens seemed beautifully kept, from manicured lawns to wonderfully wild areas for bees.

i found the staff attentive. the room was clean and well-presented. the food was good too! lunch was amazing value for money though, a really nice surprise.
the phone wasn't answered when i tried to call during my trip. when i arrived, the receptionist seemed to ignore the ringing phone, frustrating. the new decor seems cold and minimalist.
