fantastic stay

rainfall shower roll-top bath comfy bed

the mallard room featured tasteful railway carriage decor. the rainfall shower worked well, and there was also a separate roll-top bath. i appreciated the comfy bed and the garden view.

finding tea bags and coffee required a trip downstairs.

The staff was very friendly. They were always willing to help with any query. georgia, jenny, louise, abi and charlott are all assets to the hotel. breakfast was also very nice. It offered a good choice.

friendly staff excellent food beautiful garden

the staff was friendly (i felt right at home). the food was excellent, especially during dinner. the house had unique decor, and the gardens were beautiful and well kept.

the tv signal in my room was weak, but i didn't spend much time watching television anyway.

grand piano beautiful suite wholemeal toast

I was charmed by the grand piano right in the entrance. I enjoyed playing it. our beautiful suite really was so great. the hotel provided ample tea, coffee, and a free tuck bar which i took full advantage of. breakfast was great. The kitchen happily provided my request for wholemeal toast.

i found that , the gardens needed some tlc. the grounds generally looked poorly maintained. i hope they can address this soon.

disappointing experience

the location was acceptable.

the christmas treat i booked was quite the disappointment. it definitely didn't feel like a 5-star hotel, the hot breakfast fell far short of expectations and did not include fruit or pastries, the suite was cold, and the tea bags were loose in a jar without wrappers.

I found the gardens very easy to wander. the outside bar terrace seemed inviting. on-site parking was convenient. The car felt secure. the staff were pleasant and helpful.

The room was a little too dark. I needed to switch on all the lights, even during the day.
