“Cober Hill reveals itself as a unique retreat, grounded in Quaker values of inclusion and offering a peaceful escape that's hard to find; situated near Scarborough and Whitby, its extensive grounds house gardens, mini golf, and even a children's play area, pointing toward a place designed for relaxation and exploration. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, though some might find the absence of a TV a welcome respite, and the breakfasts, particularly the perfectly cooked bacon, stood out during my exploration of what makes this hotel special. It's a place where the ethos of care shines, making it a genuinely relaxing stay.”

Review summary
Based on recent reviews
Powered by AI
Cober Hill is often praised for its spacious and clean rooms, as well as its beautiful terraced gardens that sometimes offer great sea views. Its location proves ideal for exploring, with easy access to the Cleveland Way for walks to Scarborough and Robin Hood's Bay, and both Scarborough and Whitby are easily reachable. While some guests have noted that the rooms occasionally lack certain amenities like a TV, many appreciate the basic but plentiful breakfast, and find the setting perfect for walking or exploring the area by car.

Basic amenities and some issues

small bed bitter coffee
The room lacked a TV. The bed was SMALL, though I managed. Breakfast was not great. The coffee tasted bitter and the tea was not much better. It seemed this place is not really suited for families.
