mixed experience, noise issues overshadow positives

the staff were attentive during breakfast..
i stayed on a saturday night and the noise from the pub below was excessive. i found out later the manager was responsible for increasing the volume after my partner requested it be lowered. this music continued until midnight.

average stay with a couple of issues

inadequate soundproofing unhelpful staff
The room had SOME noise issues. it seemed soundproofing was not adequate to block outside sounds. also, the staff seemed less than helpful. I saw several employees chatting among themselves when customers needed assistance.

Satisfactory Hotel Experience

clean room decorated bathroom rude barman payment issue
The room was fine and very clean. The bathroom was nicely decorated and well maintained. It was a pleasure to use all the time.
The barman was really rude. He said he could not accept my £50 note for payment. I felt quite embarrassed by that.

Decent Accommodation

clean bathroom warm room equipped room late check-in untrained staff no room service
The room was warm. It was comfortable and well equipped and clean. The bathroom was clean with a excellent shower.
Check-in time is 4.00 p.m., it is not early. I arrived by train at 3.30 p.m. Staff appear to be bar-tenders. No room service was available.
