Castaway Island, Fiji, offers 65 free-standing bures (bungalows) with Fijian-style thatched roofs. The bures include high vaulted ceilings lined with hand-painted 'Tapa' cloth, air conditioning, ceiling fans, a bathroom with a shower, a hairdryer, and toiletries. Bures are located near the beach and feature a patio with outdoor furniture and ocean views. Family Beach Bures consist of two interconnecting beach bures, featuring three interconnected bedrooms and two bathrooms to accommodate up to ten guests. The Grand Bure includes two bedrooms, oversized bathrooms, a living area, and a veranda for up to six guests.
Island Dining Options
The resort offers several dining options. Restaurant 1808 provides dining on the beach. Nuku Marau Pool Bar and Grill offers casual poolside dining. Sundowner Bar & Grill features wood-fired pizza. Water's Edge, the main restaurant, overlooks the beach and serves traditional Fijian food with specials on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Fijian-Asian fusion cuisine is available, incorporating farm-fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs. A la carte lunch is available from 11 AM to 3:30 PM, and dinner from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM, except Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Activities and Experiences
Castaway Island provides activities such as snorkeling, kayaking, and paddleboarding. Two pool areas include an adult-only area with a Jacuzzi and swim-up bar and a family-friendly area for children. A PADI Five Star Gold Palm diving center offers courses from introductory programs to Divemaster certifications. Land activities include beach volleyball, tennis, cooking classes, and hiking trails. Guests can experience a Fijian Village with cooking demonstrations, storytelling, a kava ceremony, and traditional dancing.
Location and Access
Castaway Island, Fiji, is located on a 174-acre private island in Fiji's Mamanuca Islands group. Access from Nadi International Airport (NAN) is available via South Sea Cruises catamaran, with a cruising time of approximately 90 minutes. Private water taxi service and amphibious floatplanes or helicopter services from Nadi International Airport are also available. The resort is near Malolo Island (4.5 km), Castaway Island Day Trip (1 km), and Castaway Island (1 km).
Services and Amenities
The resort provides beach services with complimentary kayaks, snorkeling gear, and paddleboards. The Castaway Kids Club offers supervised activities. Currency exchange, a sundries shop, and wedding services are available. A daily program for teens includes snorkeling lessons, glass-bottom boat exploration, Fijian basket weaving, and beach volleyball. Guests can keep fit with a walk to the top of the mountain or around the island at low tide.
