Farm Hotel Accommodations
Babylonstoren offers accommodations that combine farm simplicity with contemporary design. Guests can select from the Farmhouse, Manor House, Garden Cottages, Fynbos Cottages, and the Fynbos Family House. The Farmhouse features a communal library. The Manor House, dating back to 1777, accommodates ten guests with restored interiors. The Fynbos Family House sleeps ten, featuring five bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and a private courtyard with a pool. Newly built two-bedroom cottages in the Cape Dutch style include fireplaces and bookshelves.
Dining Experiences
Babylonstoren's flagship restaurant, Babel Restaurant, is situated in a refurbished old cowshed that mixes Cape Dutch architecture with modern glass walls. Babel features seasonal food, reflecting a 'pick, clean and serve' approach. The Greenhouse offers tea, liquid infusions, light lunches, fresh salads, and wood-fired breads with meats and cheeses. Italian-inspired meals are served in the Old Bakery. A five-course Carnivore Experience is available on Wednesday and Sunday evenings, accompanied by live accordion music.
Leisure and Spa
Guests have access to the Garden Spa, which includes a gym overlooking the garden and a swimming pool, a restored farm reservoir. The hot spa area offers a sauna, steam room, vitality pool, tropical rain showers, and a salt room built with Himalayan salt. Babylonstoren provides bicycles to explore the 200-hectare farm and access to the garden at all times.
Location and Activities
Babylonstoren is located at the foot of Simonsberg in the Franschhoek wine valley, 45 km from Cape Town International. Nearby landmarks include Natte Valleij (4.5 km), African Croc Dive (2.5 km), and Drakenstein Lion Park (3.5 km). Included in your stay are guided garden tours and farm walks, fishing, mountain drives, morning harvests with gardeners, bread baking, cellar tours, wine tasting, and Babylonstoren workshops.
