Housed in a beautifully restored former post office in the heart of Ghent, 1898 The Post offers guests an exciting stay with easy access to major attractions and tram lines, making it ideal for exploring the city. Many appreciate the unique, photo-shoot-worthy decor and the well-stocked mini bar, some even enjoying mixing their own cocktails in the room. While some found the rooms a bit dark with limited views, the hotel's proximity to key sights and its historical charm, sometimes described as feeling like staying in a castle with modern amenities, tend to leave a lasting positive impression. Really good Boutique Hotel

high ceiling unique detail perfect location
The Letter Room had high ceilings and large windows. A handwritten postcard and a bookshelf gave unique detail. Balloons plus chocolate welcomed us for our honeymoon. The bed provided the best sleep I had in ages. I loved the location, it was perfect for walking everywhere.
The music from the cocktail bar kept going until 1 AM. I could feel the base even when I was in my room trying to sleep. Vibrations of techno music unsettled me and did not let me relax. A hotel is supposed to provide a good night.
Location
10/10
The hotel provided great proximity to restaurants, the tram, and the train station. I appreciated its central situation, made exploration easy, especially because many points of interest were easily reachable.
Dining
9/10
Breakfast offered both a made-to-order menu and a large buffet spread. Hot food included eggs, bacon, and vegetables. The buffet had croissants, yogurt, fruit, and cakes. The Cobbler, the hotel's cocktail bar, served tasty drinks.
Service
10/10
The reception team provided helpful information. Bar and breakfast staff offered courteous service. Staff contacted us quickly after we forgot some items. They held the items in safe keeping, and this was trustworthy.

underwhelming stay, dark room and breakfast letdown

dim lighting limited breakfast
the location was central, convenient for exploring the city.
The room was far too dark. Black walls combined with dim lighting. the breakfast selection was also disappointing, offering only limited choices and a subpar cappuccino from a self-service machine, not what i expected for the price. Also it was annoying to have to use a machine to get coffee.
