Rooms & Colony Inn

Valley Hotel, established in 1948, offers rooms with private baths, cable TV, and free WiFi. Choose from two twin beds, a single queen, or double queen (lower level only). The Colony Inn, remodeled from the Historic Teachers Dorm (circa 1935), features 12 unique rooms with private baths, cable TV, and free WiFi. For larger groups, The Colony House is available, featuring a 3-bedroom private house with 1.5 baths and a kitchen. Check-in is at 3 PM, and check-out is at 11 AM. All rooms, the cafe, and the lounge are non-smoking. Amenities include shampoo, a hair dryer, and an iron with board. Air conditioning is available in rooms, except on the lower level. Coin-operated washers and dryers are located on site.

Valley Hotel features a 24/7 Open Cafe, open 365 days a year, serving colonists and pioneers of Alaska. The Caboose Lounge offers local draft beer. A liquor store is open 21 hours a day, from 8 AM to 5 AM. Fred Meyer/Kroger Grocery is 5 blocks away. The On Premise Inn Cafe is also available.

Hotel History

Since 1948, Valley Hotel has been a part of Palmer. With the close of World War II, weary travelers began to stay the night and swap stories of gold mining in the mountains to the north, coal mines nearby, and of farming beginning to thrive again. The hotel is still a center for farmers, gold miners, and local legends.
