“The Old Palace Lodge presents a curious mix of historical structure and variable upkeep. While some rooms show recent renovation and contemporary bathroom design, others feel dated, and the lack of bedside conveniences is a recurring issue. Its gardens and event spaces still hold undeniable appeal for weddings and gatherings, despite some inconsistent experiences.”

The Old Palace Lodge boasts a convenient location in Dunstable, within walking distance of the town centre and the Grove Theatre, making it ideal for those attending shows. Many guests appreciate the recently modernised, spacious rooms, some featuring a new style décor with comfortable accent chairs. The hotel's proximity to local amenities is a plus, with Aldi nearby and various restaurants in the area. While some guests have noted that the hotel can appear a little dated in places, its location and updated rooms are generally considered good value for money.

The parking spaces are plentiful. I found a spot without a worry! i was also happy to get an early check in. The desk lady was super helpful. there even is a microwave i used to heat up my food. i will definitely be coming back!
the wifi was a huge bummer because i could not even connect! the king size bed felt strange. it was just two smaller beds put together, so sleeping was hard

I found the room to be fantastic value, with a full bathroom en suite. it had both a bath and a shower. an iron and ironing board were provided, along with a hairdryer. I also appreciated the sofa in the corner! it seemed like home.
there was no bar or restaurant available, so i had to go out for meals. it would have been nice to stay in and use some on-site facilities.

Some Issues Noted. During Stay

broken liftdirty hallway
The lift was out of service. It seemed like it had been that way for quite some time. At one in the morning, there were loud noises. I could barely sleep. Dirty hallways and hair on the floor were apparent, not to mention general rubbish. The bar and restaurant were closed, and kids broke plant pots in the garden till late hours. What a treat.

Charming Stay

beautiful architecturewell kept gardenscomfortable bedfree parking
The building's architecture was good. I noticed the gardens were well kept and offered a serene atmosphere. My room featured a very comfortable bed and ensured a restful sleep. Free parking was available, which greatly simplified logistics for my rental car, a real bonus!
I thought the towels in the bathroom seemed a little worn, but they were clean.

The continental breakfast included a nice selection of cereals fruit pastries and toast with various jams. I appreciated the variety despite the absence of meat options . It had plenty to offer.
Rooms
