“This waterfront inn in Kippford is a comfortable, unpretentious base for exploring the Solway Firth. While rooms may show their age, the excellent restaurant, dog-friendly atmosphere, and attentive staff more than compensate. I think its charm lies in its unpretentious embrace of its history.”

The Anchor Hotel is often praised for its fantastic location in a lovely area, with many enjoying the bay views. Dining experiences frequently receive positive feedback, especially the delicious food in the evening, the venison burger, steak pie, and the sticky toffee pudding. Some guests have noted that the hotel can feel a bit old. A roaring fire adds to the cosy atmosphere, making it a recommended spot, especially for those looking for a dog-friendly environment.

good foodlimited parking spacesinadequate water pressure
the food was quite good.
I found only three usable parking spaces. These were occupied by day visitors. the water pressure in the shower was inadequate. It made proper cleansing difficult. i also noticed the toilet took a very long time to refill after each flush.

The staff proved friendly. The food tasted delicious and it was freshly cooked. The view was lovely, it faced the bay.
The building felt old, thus the rooms were limited.
