Serena Shigar Fort has 20 rooms. Thirteen rooms are located in the original 17th-century Palace. Rooms feature native stone, walnut floors, and handmade period furniture. Garden Suites offer a king bed, a sitting area with Diwan, cable television, a bathroom, and a balcony. Heritage Suites include a king bed in the main bedroom, a single bed in a separate anteroom, and a sitting area. The Royal Suite features one king bed, a sitting area, a 'Shah-e-Nasheen,' and a wooden latticework balcony with Shigar stream views. Royal Suite includes a work desk, bathroom, and powder room. Amenities include intercoms, Penhaligon's bath items in Suites, and 220V / 3-pin sockets. Hair dryers are available upon request.
Dining at Fong Khar
The Serena Shigar Fort sources ingredients from Shigar Valley farms, cherry orchards, and a vegetable garden. Fong Khar Restaurant serves Pakistani, Balti, Chinese, and Continental dishes. A signature homemade cherry ice cream is crafted with ingredients from the gardens. The al fresco garden is available during warmer months. The first floor offers a Turkish-style seating area and an open veranda with village and stream views for private dining.
Activities and Excursions
Trekking up Shigar Rock, exploring Skardu's Bazaar for local handicrafts, and hiking in the Deosai Plateau are popular activities. Guests can visit the Katpana Desert, K2, Trango Towers, and Concordia Glacier. Five nearby lakes offer boating facilities. The hotel is near hot springs, including Chutron Shigar Hot Springs, Kachura Lake, and Lake Jurbusso.
Location and Access
Serena Shigar Fort is 45 km from Skardu. The hotel is along the route to K-2. Skardu Airport is a 45-minute drive. Daily one-hour PIA flights operate between Islamabad International Airport and Skardu Airport. The hotel provides access to private and charter helicopters via a helipad in Shigar, 10 minutes away.
